Mac had a fair trial. If he had not then the problems would have shown up in his appeals. Morris wrote his book to convince people that mac was innocent as he didn't address some of the most damning evidence like the pj fibers, and Colett'es blood being on the pj top before it was torn.

Judge Dupree took a weekend to decide if the testimony from those who Helena had told that she was involved with murders should be allowed to testify with hearsay evidence. He decided it would not contribute to the trial as Helena testified that she could not remember what she did that night due to her drug use and her constant confessions and retractions.

I think that Bernie contributed to mac's trial verdict as he alienated the jury.  His closing argument was rambling, inaccurate and failed to refute the damning physical evidence.
